Elisha

Chosen and Preferred · Al-Yasa · اليسع
JudaismChristianityIslam

Al-Yasa, peace be upon him, is named twice in the Quran, and Allah says he was preferred over the worlds and counted among the outstanding. The Quran is the final revelation, and it is the measure by which earlier books are read, including the account of Elisha.

Named in the Quran
1.
“And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot - and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds.”
Elisha is among those Allah preferred over the worlds.
2.
“And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding.”
Counted among the outstanding, with Ishmael and Dhul-Kifl.
In earlier scripture

The Quran

The final word
“That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing. Those are the ones to whom We gave the Scripture and authority and prophethood. But if the disbelievers deny it, then We have entrusted it to a people who are not therein disbelievers.”
The verses that follow the list of prophets that names him, in Surah al-An‘am.
